Galvalume
The group is proud to announce that for the first time in Africa we will be rolling in our new, state of the art plant in Mombasa, a product known as Galvalume. The invention was launched in Australia in 1976 and is now setting the highest standards in corrosion resistance.
Galvalume steel was developed after extensive research into methods of improving the performance of traditional galvanised iron. It was discovered that by blending aluminium with zinc to give and alloy coating, corrosion resistance could be greatly enhanced. Testing has proved that Galvalume steel has up to 4 times the life of galvanised steel under the same conditions.
Today it is used with striking effect by architects to create the latest in modern building design. However, its applications are endless form roofing and walling, garage doors etc through to white appliances.
The coating on Galvalume steel comprises of 55% aluminium, 43,5% zinc and 1.5% silicon. It has excellent forming capabilities and is also available in high strength grades and provides a superior surface for painting.
For the African market the group will be producing thicknesses of 0.2mm and upwards.
